गोष्टी रूपातून दत्तक संकल्पना 

दत्तक घेतलेल्या बालकाला दत्तक असल्याचं कसं सांगणार हा गहन प्रश्न अनेकदा पालकांच्या मनात असतो. असं सांगितल्या जातं की गोष्टीतून हा दत्तक शब्द आणि त्याचा भावार्थ मुलांपर्यंत पोचवावा. तरीही एक प्रश्न कायम राहतो की कोणत्या पद्धतीने पोचवावा? उत्तर सोपं आहे. त्या त्या वयानुसार मुलांना रुचेल, समजेल अशा भाषेत ही गोष्ट सांगावी. अनेकदा काही गोष्टी आपल्याला जशा माहीत आहेत तश्याच्या तशा नाही सांगता येत. पण शेवटी ती गोष्ट म्हणून सांगणार तर थोडेफार बदल करून सांगितली तर मुलांपर्यंत ती छान पोचते.

आता सहा वर्षांपर्यंतच्या मुलांना जर सीतेची गोष्ट सांगायची झाली तर कशी सांगावी?

'एक नगर होतं. त्याचं नाव मिथिला. एकदा काय झालं, एक शेतकरी अगदी पहाटेच काम करण्यासाठी आपल्या शेतात गेला. नांगराला फाळ लावून आणि बैलांना जुंपून तो शेतजमीन नांगरू लागला. भलं मोठ्ठ शेत होतं त्याचं. नांगरता नांगरता त्याला अचानक दूर काहीतरी पडलेलं दिसलं. त्यानी काम थांबवलं आणि जवळ जाऊन बघितलं तर एक झाकलेलं टोपलं तिथे पडलं होतं. त्यानी हळूच ते पातळ कापड बाजूस सारून पाहिलं, तर काय, दोन काळेभोर टपोरे डोळे त्याच्याकडेच बघत होते. एक इवलसं गोजिरवाणं बाळ आरामात मूठ चोखत टोपलीत पहुडलं होतं. " अरेच्च्या, हे बाळ इथे कोणी टाकलं?" तो इकडे तिकडे शोधू लागला. कुणीही दिसेना. आता काय करावं असा विचार करून त्यानी ठरवलं की बाळाला राजाकडे घेऊन जावं आणि राजाच ठरवेल बाळाचं काय करायचं ते. तो लागलीच त्या टोपलीतल्या बाळाला घेऊन राजाच्या महाली गेला. त्या मिथिला नगरीच्या राजाचं नाव होतं जनक.

शेतकरी महालाच्या दाराशी पोचला तर रक्षकांनी त्याला अडवलं. तो म्हणाला अरे बाबा मला ताबडतोब राजाला भेटायचं आहे. हे बघा एक चिमुकलं या टोपलीत सापडलं मला. राजालाच ठरवू दे काय करायचं ते. मग रक्षक त्याला राजाकडे घेऊन गेले. जनकानी बघितलं आणि विचारलं, "काय रे कोणी ठेवलं हे बाळ तुझ्या शेतात? " शेतकऱ्याला माहीत नव्हतं. आता काय करणार! राजानी राणीला बोलावलं आणि विचारलं, "या बाळाचं काय करायचं राणीसरकार? " राणी म्हणाली, "जनकराजा आपल्याला बाळच नाही. मला असं वाटतंय की ईश्वरानीच आपल्याला हा प्रसाद पाठवला आहे. आता हे बाळ आपले." राजा म्हणाला "पण हे बाळ कुणी जन्माला घातलय माहीत नाही आणि ही तर मुलगी आहे." "तर काय झालं, लहान बाळ कुणाचही असलं तरी काय फरक पडतो, आपण हिला दत्तक घेऊ. ही आजपासून आपलीच मुलगी आहे. "  राणी बोलली. आणि अशी ही शेतात सापडलेली मुलगी राजाची दत्तक मुलगी सीता झाली, जनकाची लाडकी राजकन्या जानकी झाली !

अशा पद्धतीने जर गोष्ट सांगीतली तर दत्तक हा शब्द आणि त्याचा भावार्थ अगदी लहान मुलांना देखील छान समजतो.

ही तर होती सीतेची गोष्ट. अर्थात आपण मुलांना किती तरी कल्पनेवर आधारित गोष्टी सांगत असतो. अशाच काही गोष्टी पुढील काळात blogs च्या माध्यमातून आपल्याला वाचता येतील.

Many parents often struggle with the profound question of how to tell their adopted child that they are adopted. It is commonly suggested that the concept of adoption should be introduced through stories. However, the question remains—how should it be conveyed? The answer is simple: the story should be told in a way that is appropriate for the child's age, using language they can understand and relate to.

There are times when certain things cannot be explained exactly as they are, but when presented as a story with slight modifications, they become easier for children to grasp.

For example, how should we narrate Sita’s story (From Ramayana) to children up to six years old?

 

"Once upon a time, there was a city called Mithila. One day, early in the morning, a farmer went to his field to work. He yoked his oxen to the plow and started tilling the land. It was a vast field. As he was plowing, he suddenly noticed something lying at a distance. He stopped his work and walked closer. There, he found a covered basket. Curious, he gently moved the thin cloth aside and, to his surprise, saw two big, bright black eyes looking back at him. Inside the basket lay a tiny, adorable baby, comfortably sucking its thumb.

‘Oh my! Who left this baby here?’ The farmer looked around but saw no one. Unsure of what to do, he decided to take the baby to the king, who would know what should be done. He carefully picked up the basket and took it to the palace of the King of Mithila, Janaka.

When the farmer arrived at the palace gates, the guards stopped him. He pleaded, ‘Please let me see the king immediately! Look, I found this little baby in my field. The king must decide what to do.’ The guards took him to the king.

King Janaka looked at the baby and asked, ‘Who left this child in your field?’ The farmer had no answer. The king then called the queen and asked, ‘What should we do with this baby, my queen?’ The queen lovingly replied, ‘My dear king, we do not have a child of our own. I feel as though the gods themselves have blessed us with this gift. This baby is now ours.’

The king hesitated, ‘But we do not know who gave birth to this child, and it is a girl!’

‘So what?’ said the queen. ‘It doesn’t matter whose child she was born as—she is ours now. Let us adopt her. From this moment, she is our daughter.’

And so, the little girl found in the field became the adopted daughter of the king. She became Sita, the beloved princess of Janaka!"

 

When presented in this way, the concept and meaning of adoption become clear and easy to understand, even for very young children.
